In 2004 I flew down to Houston to meet my internet Bestie, Chantal. The Super Bowl was going on and I wanted to know what it was like to be around all that excitement. I was not disappointed!
I was introduced to the insanely large, by Indianapolis standards, Galleria Mall. The mall + the Super Bowl crowd trying to get a glimpse at celebrities shopping = insane circus madhouse! It was a great time! I got to see a huge throng of teenaged – 20something women lose their mind trying to get into the same store as Nelly. The Tiffany’s was locked up due to a celeb shopping. (It was rumored to be J-Lo but I cannot confirm that).
The highlight of my trip my trip was being taken to a restaurant that had brisket going first thing in the morning. Everyone in line around me was all ordering up brisket. I watched as they carved up slab after slab of this heavenly looking hunk of meat! I’m pretty sure the clouds rolled away and the angels started singing. To be fair that sound also could have been from the leftover Tequila Rose rattling around in my brain. I didn’t get any brisket while in Texas and I’ve never quite gotten over not ordering it.
Since then, I’ve been on the search for the best brisket Indy has to offer. Where do you go when you get a hankering for brisket? I have a favorite but I’d love to know yours and to try new places. Leave your suggestions in the comments or on my FB page: Angiee’s Elegant Eats.
